Study Finds 90% Of Men Recharge Faster After Pretending To Fix Something

<

In groundbreaking research from the Institute of Masculine Sciences (IMS), scientists have confirmed what the nation’s men have quietly known for centuries: nothing recalibrates the male soul quite like standing over a random household object and pretending to fix it.

The study reveals that even when the man has absolutely no idea what he’s doing—and often no actual tools—his stress levels drop by 64%, confidence rises by 89%, and his sense of purpose skyrockets to levels typically only achieved while braaiing or explaining directions no one asked for.

Lead researcher Dr. Kato Mugisha explains: “We observed men opening car bonnets for no reason, tightening screws that weren’t loose, and unplugging devices before plugging them back in. The therapeutic effect was immediate. Some participants even asked for a second broken item to ‘get more clarity.’”

One subject reported reaching “peak enlightenment” after staring at a washing machine for eight minutes straight while gently tapping it with a spoon. Another achieved emotional closure simply by saying the sentence, ‘Try turning it off and on.’

According to the study, the key is not the fixing itself—most men, the researchers admit, did not fix a single thing—but the ritual:
• The deep sigh before inspection
• The serious nodding at absolutely nothing
• The slow crouch to look underneath (even when nothing is underneath)
• The classic “Hmm… interesting”

Experts believe this instinct dates back to early man, who likely wandered around caves poking at rocks and logs to avoid emotional conversations.

Men’s Conference officials have already announced a new workshop titled “Advanced Pretend Fixing: Tools Not Required.” Attendees will learn high-performance tactics such as tapping objects, squinting knowledgeably, and asking someone to “pass the spanner” even though no spanner will be used.
